The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is to provide perennial traffic facility to the villagers in rural areas. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was launched by the Government of India on 25 December 2000. The plan was a fully centralized scheme, under the scheme, there is a provision to connect all the villages up to 500 $ population in general areas and connectivity of villages with population of 250 $ in hilly and tribal areas is to be provided. For implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Madhya Pradesh under the Rural Development Department at the state level. Rural Road Development Authority was formed.

7 units are functioning in 4 districts under Rewa division. From the commencement of the scheme till date, 1436 roads are 7072.03 km. Approval of length was received, of which 1386 roads 6911.06 km. Length work has been completed. Presently, construction of bridges has also been started under the scheme with a view to facilitate the movement of villagers.
