Mining

Basic /Institutional Information of the Department :-

Mineral resources play a very important role in the industrial development. In the terms of mineral availability Vindhya region (Rewa & Shahdol division) is the most mineral prosperous area of the Madhya Pradesh. Directorate of Geology & Mining, Regional office Rewa continuous work is being done by Mineral resources Department through conservation, exploration and continuous monitoring on exploitation of minerals under the Rules valid by the Law. The tasks being operated by the Department are increasing the State revenue continuously and paths are also being paved for discovery of new mineral deposits.

Departmental Structure :-
The Headquarter of Directorate of Geology & Mining is situated at Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh. Regional office Rewa conducting prospecting/ exploration/survey work in seven districts (Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Anuppur & Umaria). District mining wings are running under the direction of district collectors. Samples collected by the mineral exploration work of Regional office Rewa has been send to departmental laboratory Jabalpur for chemical analysis.

Responsibilities of the Department and General Information relating to the Department :-
The responsibilities being fulfilled by the department are as follows:
Mineral Exploration
Mineral Administration
Technical staff of the Department such as Deputy Director (Technical), Assistant Geologist and other Technical and non technical staff is engaged in the task of Mineral Exploration. Lay out plan for departmental exploration is laid down by State Geological Board.
Under the mineral administration, the control on mineral exploitation according to the rules, disposal of new application and the regulation of approved mineral relaxations in the State is done by the staff posted in various offices of the Department.
